ODS Software

Welcome to the Document Scanner Guide

The Document Scanner in the Fabrication Lab is useful for scanning loose pages, books, artwork, and more. It is ideal for scanning books as you are not required to place a scanning plate and "flatten" the book, you can easily flip pages as you scan.

The Document Scanner uses ODS software, this guide will give you a step-by-step look at how to use this software to help you complete your scanning.

Step 1:

Place your document/ book on the Overhead Document Scanner (ODS) and make sure it is plugged-in to the computer to the right of it. Turn on the ODS. The power button is located to the right of the machine, closest to the computer.

Step 2:

Open the Crowley ODS application on your computer, this can be found through the desktop shortcut or in the Start menu.

Step 3:

After you have opened the application you can wait and see the quick tutorial or hit start button at the bottom to continue. The tutorial will give you a brief guide on how to use the ODS machine and software.

Step 4:

If you get an error that asks you to put in serial number or license key, these numbers are located on the bottom of monitor. When in doubt, ask for support from a Fabrication Lab staff member.
